2024 Summer Interflow Programme

In an effort to further enhance students' learning experience, the CUHK Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Education of Beijing Normal University (BNU) signed a student exchange agreement last year, to work together to cultivate educational talent. The two universities organised the first Summer Interflow Program in May and July 2024, arranging teachers and students from both universities for exchange visits.

The first Summer Interflow Programme kicked off from 20 to 26 May 2024. A delegation of three students from the Faculty, which was led by Prof. Jocelyn Wong and Prof. Luna Peng, visited BNU for exchange activities. The theme of this tour revolved around Chinese culture, history and education. BNU has prepared a wealth of activities for the delegation, including classroom experiences, visits to Mainland schools, off-campus cultural study trips, and many more. Our teachers and students have found that the experience very rewarding.

On 8 to July 14 2024, led by Prof. Yin Hongbiao and Prof. Jocelyn Wong, the Faculty received teachers and 30 students from BNU. A series of lectures were arranged by teachers and their teams from various Departments, including AI in Education, SEN, VR in Education, Early Childhood Education Experiential Learning, etc. Outside the classroom, we also brought the BNU students to visit the CUHK campus and laboratory, and went on a one-day cultural study trip to Lantau Island. Teachers and students of BNU expressed that the exchange activities were very fulfilling and exciting, and they were deeply interested in the courses of the Faculty.

Some of the students’ reflections:

  • CUHK student: "I benefited a lot from this interflow programme. I’ve learned more about the Mainland's education system and made friends with many teachers and students. I am grateful to BNU for its warm hospitality and thoughtful itinerary arrangements."
  • CUHK student: "We had the chance to attend postgraduate oral defence sessions, which inspired us to understand that as future educators, we should not only focus on learning teaching techniques, but also be able to conduct research to drive the education process forward. "
  • BNU student: “I was able to further experience Hong Kong culture and the characteristics and learning environment of CUHK. It will be a good guide for my future study plans.”
  • BNU student: "I am very happy to experiece how the cutting-edge educational research in Hong Kong is applied in practice. The close integration of industry, academia and research is impressive."
