St. Stephenˇ¦s Girlsˇ¦ Primary School is one of the 50 schools selected by the Chinese University Faculty of Education to take part in the Accelerated Schools Project. We consider ourselves most fortunate indeed to be able to take part in the programme.

I realised that a foreign project could be implemented successfully in the local context and it gave me a strong incentive to join the Hong Kong ASP when it was introduced in September 1998. I feel confident that I can share the experiences we have gained and at the same time be guided by the expertise of the ASP Team to further accelerate the school.

In the short time we have worked with the ASP Team, we have gained significant benefits from the project. In taking Stock, the team gave us a report that objectively and accurately lists our strengths and weaknesses, the former far outnumbers the latter, I am pleased to note. Our many effective educational practices have been endorsed by the team of experts and this encourages us to proceed further and Build On Strengths, another principle of ASP. The team of experts have also given us valuable advice on our way forward.

I must highly commend the team of development officers assigned to work with our school. Their open, friendly, supportive, non-judgemental attitudes and their dedication to their work are the key to the success of the programme and I look forward with enthusiasm to further collaboration with them in bringing the much needed educational reform to Hong Kong.

What a joy it is to be partners with the ASP team.
