an opportunity to trigger the general realization in the application of multi-media to help expand the scope of learning and enhance interest in classroom teaching/ learning. Although the implementation logistics had apparently caused a great deal of anxiety among front-line teachers and administrators, it did spark a lot of concern on how teachers can motivate students to read for interest in a foreign language. No matter what schemes had foregone to this effect, not much significant changes was envisaged. Some schools concluded that perhaps it is high time our Task-based Learning (TBL) -thematic curriculum design should include SBA as a serious consideration.
SPHRC Kung Yik She Secondary School in Tin Shui Wai is one of such schools who had put this inspiration into action. As member school of Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) (2004-2006), the S4 English language teaching (ELT) team had worked closely with 2 school development officers (SDOs) in the design and execution of this project. It is hoped their endeavour will enliven more interested practitioners to follow suit and share efforts towards improving the ELT scene in the territory.
N.B. A comprehensive Field Report which includes all lesson plans and work-sheet designed will be made available on the QSIP website after this conference. |
