Education In Ransitional Mainland China : Problems And Prospects

Abstract
Since the introduction of the reform and opening policy in the late 1970s, Mainland China has experienced tremendous social and economical changes. The "sleepy dragon" is finally wakening up. As the Chinese economy now enjoys unprecedented raipd progress, how is the educational system abjusting to a socialist market economine issues and prospects concerning education in today's transitional China. Specifically, this paper discusses recent educational development in China and its historical, social, political, economical, and cultural contexts and implications.
