Congratulations to Au Cheuk Kwan (Duncan), Lai Ho Wa (Wilson), and Tsoi Chun Kit (Don) for winning the CUHK Outstanding Students Award 2020! Under Prof. Ng Oi Lam’s supervision, Duncan, Wilson, and Don have contributed to every success of the Faculty’s CU in the CLOUD initiative, which aims to offer a variety of online videos to help Hong Kong students get through their mathematics learning in a fun and engaging way in response to ongoing school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this work, they created high quality videos: Maths Tips, Maths FAQs, Maths Fun Facts, and Maths ‘in Motion’, 14 videos in total and also edited 7 other videos covering primary and secondary school topics. Besides taking part with an instrumental role in the creation of the “CU in the CLOUD: Mathematics Education” YouTube Channel, they demonstrated innovative thinking and strong technology skills through their teaching in 3 YouTube “live” lessons and 2 Zoom lessons. As of June, their videos and online lessons have reached over 3300 views, benefiting students in a variety of ways: from arousing their interests and curiosity to consolidating their mathematics knowledge.
