2025 Summer Interflow Programme

To further enhance students' learning experience, the CUHK Faculty of Education signed a student exchange agreement with East China Normal University (ECNU) in 2023, joining hands to nurture educational talent. In May and July 2025, we jointly organized the Summer Interflow Program, facilitating mutual visits between students and teachers from both institutions.

This year’s Summer Interflow Program began from May 19 to 25, 2025. The delegation from our faculty, led by Prof. Jocelyn Wong and Ms. Annie Leung, included nine students who visited ECNU in Shanghai for a series of exchange activities. The program focused on Chinese cultural history and education. ECNU arranged a rich itinerary for our delegation, including lectures and seminars, visits to a local primary school, and cultural field trips. Both teachers and students found the experience of mainland education and culture highly rewarding.

On July 7 to July 13, 2025, led by Prof. Yin Hongbiao and Prof. Jocelyn Wong, the Faculty welcomed teachers and 24 students from ECNU. Faculty members from various departments organized lectures covering a wide range of topics, including AI in Education, SEN, VR in Education, Early Childhood Education Experiential Learning, etc. Outside the classroom, we guided the students on a tour of the CUHK campus and the AI laboratory, and conducted a one-day cultural field trip to Lantau Island. The ECNU delegation expressed that the exchange program was enriching and exciting, and showed great interest in our faculty’s curriculum.

Some of the students’ reflections:

CUHK student: " The most memorable part of the Shanghai trip was visiting a primary school. The school’s forward-thinking educational philosophy and its child-friendly, imaginative facilities were truly eye-opening. It made me reflect on the disparities and conflicts in educational resources and philosophies across regions. "

CUHK student: " The swaying shadows along the tree-lined campus paths, the lingering charm of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, the dazzling lights of the Bund at dusk, and the laughter shared over dinner with ECNU students… This journey to Shanghai took me beyond the radius of my everyday life and opened my eyes to new possibilities in education. "

ECNU student: “I gained insights into the career prospects of education-related fields in Hong Kong and had in-depth exchanges with graduate students from CUHK. It was enlightening to understand Hong Kong’s education from a fresh perspective.”

ECNU student: "I loved all the workshops offered! These are experiences I wouldn’t have had if I hadn’t come to Hong Kong."
