Effective Management Skills in Teaching Physical Education

Abstract

In the instructional process of physical education, teachers attempt to use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques in order to maximize students' learning time and to achieve the instructional goals. Among these, management skills are a topic of major interest and concern to teachers and school administrators. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance and application of management skills in three areas of physical education in Hong Kong: the planning of the instructional programme, the preparation of the teaching-learning environment, and the management of the safety factors.
