Programme Overview

The aim of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Programmes is to train and nurture professional early childhood, primary and secondary school teachers. The Programme comprises course work and teaching practicum, with early childhood, primary and secondary streams. The curriculum is flexible and will be reviewed regularly to meet the ever-changing needs arising from social and educational development.

Programme Learning Outcomes

Guided by its overarching philosophy to empower pre- and in-service teachers to become reflective practitioners, the programmes aim at producing graduates who are able to:

  1. demonstrate a solid foundation in the integration of theory and practice in education;
  2. apply relevant pedagogical content knowledge for effective and innovative teaching that meets the needs of a knowledge-based and technological era;
  3. foster students’ whole-person development and empower them with generic skills and a global mindset to cope with challenges in an increasingly complex and competitive environment;
  4. embrace diversity, equity and inclusivity in their professional practice to maximize students’ potential;
  5. promote excellence in education through transformative practice and effective collaboration with key stakeholders; and
  6. show professional commitment through upholding professional ethics and values, pursuing continuing professional development, and being good role models for students.
