透過「文本互證」(Intertextuality)的跨領域視角,深入探討阿波羅(Apollo)、戴歐尼修斯(Dionysus)、薩圖恩(Saturn)、奧德修斯(Ulysses)、代達洛斯(Daedalus)、伊卡洛斯(Icarus)、奧菲斯(Orpheus)、納西瑟斯(Narcissus)、伊底帕斯(Oedipus)及普羅米修斯(Prometheus)等核心神話人物的悲劇命運,並將拉斐爾(Raphael)、卡拉瓦喬(Caravaggio)、哥雅(Goya)、安德烈·馬松(André Masson)與達利(Dalí)等大師的經典視覺作品,與王爾德(Oscar Wilde)的《格雷的畫像》(The Picture of Dorian Gray)、索福克勒斯(Sophocles)的《伊底帕斯王》(Oedipus the King),以及卡夫卡(Franz Kafka)的短篇寓言〈普羅米修斯〉(“Prometheus”) 與〈海妖的沉默〉(“The Silence of the Sirens”) 等文學經典緊密結合;同時引入席蓮·安曼(Céline Sciamma)的《燃燒女子的畫像》 (Portrait of a Lady on Fire)、傑瑞米·雷文(Jeremy Leven)的《天生愛情狂》(Don Juan DeMarco),以及雷利·史考特(Ridley Scott)的《普羅米修斯》 (Prometheus) 等當代電影進行互文對話。

2026WIN-S59 Future Law: Can Law Protect us from Science, Technology and the Metaverse?*
This course will consider the challenges facing our world as science and technology advances at a rate that outpaces the law which is intended to protect and serve us. The course will consider the problems facing law and lawyers when they are asked by clients to deal with the issues and benefits that scientific and technological advances bring. We will consider the latest advances and anticipated advances in science and engineering, and the ethical and legal issues that may follow. In particular the course will consider (a) advances in medicine: research using embryos and stem cells, DNA mapping, bioengineering, medical and pharmacological breakthroughs and profit, the issues that arise from living longer or even forever; (b) making humans and super humans: in vitro fertilization, genetic engineering and bionics; (c) resurrecting the dead: cryonic preservation; (d) saving the planet and feeding the world: no plastics, limitless clean energy and genetically modified foodstuffs; (e) making machines think: from self-driving cars and automated weapons to independent artificial super intelligence (including the replacement of lawyers and judges); (f) space exploration and colonization; (g) extra-terrestrial visitors; (h) the internet and information: free-access, privacy, fake stories and policing the internet; and (i) semiconductors, 5G technology, and supercapacitors: the internet of everything. All of these advances and possibilities bring ethical considerations and concerns, and may raise legal issues which will be discussed in the course - particularly they may identify gaps in the law as advances in science and technology raise issues that have never been considered before. The course will also consider the impact of the global pandemic, COVID-19, on the law and being a lawyer. In conclusion, we will consider the future for law and lawyers with more use of technology in law and the claim that we may be facing the end of lawyers.
