劉博士接受社會學、社會人類學和宗教研究方面的學術背景。自2007始她為大學生、職前和在職教師推廣正念教育。她的研究興趣包括沉思實踐、正念(靜觀)、價值教育和教師道德。
在加入中大教育學院之前,劉博士曾在一所中學擔任註冊教師和倫理及宗教科統籌。她曾擔任香港教育大學講師、高級講師和博士生共同指導導師。她目前兼任佛光大學的助理教授和碩士論文導師。
