We narrate in order to understand our own as well as the lives of other people. Narrative is a process of sense-giving and sense-making of actions, events and texts, or of explaining the relationships among them. This course is designed to explicate the basic elements of narrative method, and emphasize how it could be employed to do research in education, particularly on the value-laden aspects. It contains the constituent parts: narrative as a mode of knowing, how stories are made, narratives in an interview situation, reading narratives, and narrative analysis.
