刘博士接受社会学、社会人类学和宗教研究方面的学术背景。自2007始她为大学生、职前和在职教师推广正念教育。她的研究兴趣包括沉思实践、正念(静观)、价值教育和教师道德。
在加入中大教育学院之前,刘博士曾在一所中学担任注册教师和伦理及宗教科统筹。她曾担任香港教育大学讲师、高级讲师和博士生共同指导导师。她目前兼任佛光大学的助理教授和硕士论文导师。
